Digital 3D Project Educate Week Day 2
Let's start it off with a Q and A of the wonderful ~FunkyBunnies (https://www.deviantart.com/funkybunnies) !! Chris is a talented 3D artist and not only did he do a Q and A for the community, but he is also either a) partaking in the 3D contest or b) being a judge for it :la:
1. What is your typical process/layout when creating your 3D work or your game development art work? (ie: your typical day doing this kind of art)
:iconfunkybunnies: Normally I spend a good amount of time exploring an idea by searching for reference and inspiration. This can come in many forms and you can come across inspiring stuff at any time – so always k
It's day 6!! We have an interview with ~haikai13 (https://www.deviantart.com/haikai13) today, former character artist of Trion but now awesome freelance artist  Hai has been the number one Game development artist requested by the community and for that, and a thanks for him agreeing to be a judge for the contest, Day 6 is just the Q/A and featuring his work. :)
:iconhaikai13: has a series of amazing and inciteful tutorials that he has created for really fair prices! He's a very talented artist, and I encourage the community who reached out to him to also buy his tutorials to get a more in depth visual version of his process/work. :) http://haikai.net/tutorials.html &

Regarding unemployment / Freelance *UPDATED*
From the polycount discussion over here: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=113798
I get the sense that some HR people (& immigration) look at 'not working inhouse' as being unemployed - mainly because it's so hard to prove exactly how long you were *actually* working on freelance.
If I was to look at it that way, then I've been unemployed for periods of up to 3 years.
Tangent:
I got over worrying about money and financial problems back when I had little to no money to worry about - and I think that's helped me to no end. Life seemed to be stuck on replay when I was in that frame of mind i.e. creating stuff because I HAD to g

Low Polygon Modeling Re-Defined
Low Poly Re-Defined For The Average Deviant
So there has been a lot of confusion on this subject, especially on Deviant Art what classifies as low poly and what doesn't.
Often you browse around DA see DD's or Game-art you like, see the tri count and go 'omg that is too high poly!' Stop. Right. There.
Just stop. Low poly has been miss-categorized lately and it's almost insulting to just assume someone's tri count is 'way too high poly'. Low poly can fall into many more groups then you think, and even 20,000 tri's can be considered low poly.
A bit of terminology before we begin
When we talk about polygon count, or poly count, we actually m

Is it Worth it ? Polycount Thread.
A couple of people pm'd me suggesting I should spread this far and wide, I'm glad some people find my past failures useful haha!

imo n00bs that I have worked with, talked with, hung out with *think* and say they want to be in the games industry, but tbh they only *kind of* want it.
They want all the cool shit, without the slog through the mud for the first 3 - 5 years to get there. They want instant rockstar status, to tell their friends, to be cool nerds etc.

Its time to have to my truthful say on things.

How I Tackle My Female Faces
Ive ripped this straight from my thread at Polycount which can be found here:

I thought I would post it here as well so I can keep track of it, and I thought it may help some people out there that have been asking me how i approach making a pretty female face :)
Stop reading now if you are looking for a step by step or how to guide to modelling or painting, this is NOT one of those guides. This is about my thought process, and how i break down the approach. Something which a step by step cannot give you. Im also breaking this into parts.
Its long, so get some popcorn and get prepared for some epic wafflage.
